Step-by-Step Guide to Trezor.io/Start

Setting up your Trezor hardware wallet ensures your digital assets are protected with high-end security. Follow these steps to do it safely and correctly:

Step 1: Unbox and Inspect Your Trezor Device

  • Open the box and make sure everything is intact.
  • Look for tamper-evident seals. If the seals are broken or look suspicious, do not use the device.
  • Inside the box, you should find:
  • The Trezor device
  • USB cable
  • Recovery seed cards
  • Instruction manual or quick start guide
  • Stickers (optional)

Step 2: Go to Trezor.io/Start

  • On your computer, open a browser and type in the address bar:
    trezor.io/start
  • Choose your Trezor model: Trezor Model One or Trezor Model T

This page will guide you to download the official Trezor Suite, which is the main app to manage your wallet.

Step 3: Download and Install Trezor Suite

  • Click the download button to get the correct version of Trezor Suite for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  • Install the app and launch it.
  • Trezor Suite will help you manage your crypto, send/receive coins, and use advanced features like Trezor login.

Step 4: Connect Your Trezor to the Computer

  • Use the USB cable to plug your Trezor into your computer.
  • Trezor Suite should detect your device.
  • If this is your first time using it, you may be asked to install firmware.

Step 5: Install Firmware (If Required)

  • Your Trezor device comes without firmware for safety reasons.
  • Click "Install Firmware" in Trezor Suite and wait for the process to complete.
  • Do not disconnect your device during the installation.

Step 6: Create a New Wallet

  • Once firmware is installed, you’ll be prompted to create a new wallet.
  • Select “Create new wallet.”
  • You will then be guided through the backup process.

Step 7: Backup Your Recovery Seed

  • Your Trezor will display 12 or 24 recovery words one by one.
  • Write them down in order on the recovery card provided.
Do not take photos or store them digitally.
  • This recovery seed is the only way to restore your wallet if your device is lost or damaged.

Important:
Never share your seed phrase. Trezor staff or anyone else will never ask for it.

Step 8: Set a Strong PIN

  • Set a personal PIN code on your Trezor device.
  • The PIN adds physical security; even if someone gets your Trezor, they cannot access your funds without the PIN.

Choose a PIN that is difficult to guess but easy for you to remember.

Step 9: Explore Trezor Suite and Add Coins

  • You can now access your wallet through the Trezor Suite interface.
  • Add cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many others by creating new accounts in the Suite.
  • Click “Receive” to find your wallet address and deposit coins from an exchange or another wallet.

Step 10: Enable Optional Security Features

For added protection:

  • Enable Passphrase Protection: A custom word or sentence that acts like an extra layer of encryption.
  • Label Your Device: Give your Trezor a name so it's easily identifiable.
  • Use Trezor Login: Access supported websites without passwords using Trezor login for extra security.

Final Tips for Safe Use

  • Always verify addresses and actions directly on your Trezor screen.
  • Keep your device and recovery seed in a secure, separate location.
  • Regularly update firmware and software via Trezor Suite.
  • Beware of phishing websites or fake apps. Always access the official Trezor Suite via trezor.io/start.
